Dali in St. Pete

Dali Museum- check out the spiral staircase inside!

I made it to the museum and really can't wait to go back.  I went over a week ago with a friend from Sarasota and we meet another friend there.  The ride up there went super quick and it was easy to get to for the most part.  We weren't exactly sure where the building was thanks to my awesome mapquest skills, but it all worked out fine.  We parked down by the waterfront and we had time to kill anyways so we took a walk along the sea wall.  It was super nice outside and we ended up finding our way.

We were waiting for our friend to meet us and took a stroll around the gift shop.  There were a few things I wouldn't have minded picking up... like a book or two, some prints, plates... They also have a small cafe.  The food didn't look like anything special for the price but they did have beer and wine so we hit that up.

Our friend showed so we caught up, finished up our drinks, and got some tickets (1/2 price Thursday after 5!).  By this time it was a little later and we only had so much time before they closed.  The work was divided mostly by time periods and medium. The first set of illustrations we checked out were pretty entertaining with lots to look at.  You can see he had a sense of humor and maybe a little twisted.  There were also photo projects he collaborated on, early life works, some work that was more experimental, and then more of the surrealist work Dali is most known for.  We didn't really get to take a long look at the latter because we were rushed out since they were closing.  I'll try to go back sometime soon to get a better look at everything.

After the museum we got some dinner at a sushi/thai restaurant and then a couple more drinks at Independent before heading back.  It was really great to get to see a little bit of St. Pete with good friends, food and art!
